SITE ANALYSIS

I have proposed a new build to be located at Queen’s Drive, Edinburgh. I have chosen this site because it is a beautiful, serene environment that harmonises with my themes of reflection and connection.

I have explored how religion and culture affect the way we think about death. The people of Mexico, for instance, have Dia de los Muertos when they celebrate and remember their dead.
DESIGN THEMES

THE CONCEPT
The Luminary offers a new environmentally friendly process of Ecolation which reduces the body to organic dust. The remains are condensed into a 50mm cube which will be accommodated within a light, enclosed space.
